The Sovereign Development Consortium (SDC) has been celebrating winning the encouraging innovation and efficiency category of the CIH UK Housing Awards 2009 held in London on 11 November. They beat off strong competition from four other leading social housing providers and this win recognised the SDC’s drive and determination to deliver efficiency through collaborative working.

 

The SDC was established in 2003, in response to Housing Corporation reforms to create fewer partners delivering more homes, while also improving on quality. Since then the founding five landlords have grown the alliance into a driven partnership of 11 housing associations, with nearly 41,000 homes under management across the south east and south west of England. 

The Consortium, working with its private sector partners, offers a real opportunity for its stakeholders to realise greater value for money and improvements in quality in the delivery of affordable housing. It has access to large-scale staff and financial resources and is committed to collaborative working to implement a programme of continuous improvement and creating best practice.
