Sovereign provides new homes for over 55s

01.09.2010

Sovereign South+West is dedicated to providing affordable new homes in Exeter. As part of this, Sovereign is now on site at the former Exeter Rugby Club site, at St Thomas in Exeter. The County Ground, originally the home of The Exeter Falcons speedway team and the Exeter Chiefs Rugby team, will now be a leading housing scheme. The development will offer 189 much needed new homes, of which 53 apartments will be affordable and managed by Sovereign South+West.

The new scheme is being built by Leadbitter and Sovereign’s 53 homes will feature 33 one–bedroom apartments, 18 two-bedroom apartments and 2 two-bedroom apartments specifically designed for disabled living. The apartments are also based around an eco-design which aims to lower energy usage by 25% and reduce water consumption to 105 litres per person per day.

The development, which will be ready in March 2011, will provide residents with two lifts, a spacious communal lounge, excellent parking facilities and landscaped gardens. The cost of the development will be around £4.5m and includes approximately £3.7m of HCA funding.

Paul Roberts, Development Officer for Sovereign South+West, noted, "We are really pleased to be able to offer these much affordable new homes for the over 55s in the Exeter area. These new apartments will also offer residents excellent facilities and are being built in a very convenient location."
