
Oxfordshire’s plan to build more than 37,000 homes by 2016 is on track through redevelopment in Oxford, and town extensions in Witney, Bicester, Didcot and Banbury.
County planners are seeking to reverse Oxfordshire’s historically low densities – 25 per hectare until 2001 – by calling for densities of at least 30 per hectare in rural areas, rising to 50 per hectare in town centres.
Until four years ago, just 20% of new homes were affordable, but now this has been increased to 50%, developers are seeking to work more closely with affordable housing alliances like SDC.
At the moment, we’re working with David Wilson Homes to deliver 38 affordable homes on former MoD land at Carterton, West Oxfordshire. And we are also busy working with parish councils to develop more than 70 village homes (rural exception sites), as part of the Oxfordshire Rural Housing Partnership.
